Uzbekistan has refused to join UEFA

President of Uzbekistan Football Federation Mirabror Usmanov said that Uzbekistan has no plans to join the European Union of Football Associations (UEFA). Usmanov called the move inadvisable, and noted that the Uzbek team better be one of the strongest teams in Asia, as one of the weakest in Europe, Central Asian News Service reported with reference to the press service of Uzbekistan Football Federation.

Last week, Usmanov said that Uzbekistan plans to withdraw from the Asian Football Confederation and join the UEFA, but the press service of Uzbekistan Football Federation said that perhaps the words of the President were incorrectly translated by journalists.

Usmanov stressed that the desire of Uzbekistan will be able to enter the UEFA "five minutes", but doubted that the football team needs. Currently, a team of Uzbekistan took the last place in its World Cup team selection in 2010.
